We are proud to share that our new open access tools for contextualization of audiovisual archival materials are in place. MyEUscreen – a personal homepage where you can save your favourite content, make audiovisual collections, create video posters with our tools for digital curation, and share your creations and bookmarks is now available. We are giving the editorial control over the collection of unique 60 000 items on EUscreen.eu to the users by hosting an open competition that will run from February 12, 12:00 CET to February 24, 12:00 CET.
Our editorial team is constantly creating new and interesting collections to highlight our amazing EUscreen collection. Today more than 60,000 exquisite items are accessible on the EUscreen portal to pick from, representing 22 European broadcasters and archives.
To celebrate the achievement, we are announcing a Competition for our community to find out which EUscreen videos you like the best.( Read more…)

VIEW Journal of European Television History and Culture, our peer-reviewed multi-media and open access e-journal in the field of television studies, devotes its 10th issue (Winter 2016) to Non-fiction Transmedia.
With this issue we aim to offer a scholarly perspective on the emergence of transmedia forms, their technological and aesthetic characteristics, the types of audience engagement they engender, the possibilities they create for engagement with archival content, the technological predecessors that they may or may not have emerged from, and the institutional and creative milieux in which they thrive (or don’t thrive). We welcome contributions from all perspectives including but not restricted to aesthetic, sociological, industrial, media archaeological, and audience/reception studies perspectives.
This collection is a journey back to your school days. Sit back and remember those important moments.
Witness the excitement of the first day of school, learn about the environment in a Hungarian forest, listen to teenagers talk about history, or give their opinion on religion, see how Portuguese students struggled against a dictatorship, explore a variety of school activities – from tennis to modelling, and have fun browsing through the rest of our collection of videos from our shared European heritage.
In November of last year we joined the SITIS conference in Bangkok where we presented our ideas on the contextualization of AV content, and the new publication formats currently being developed for our portal, among them our Video Poster: a new and exciting way of presenting and sharing videos (and text) online.
Following the Content in Motion: Curating Europe’s audio-visual Heritage conference which took place on the 3rd and 4th December in Warsaw, Poland, it seems a good moment to reflect on some of the curation work undertaken on the EUscreenXL project.
EUscreen publishes the open access journal VIEW, which explores Europe’s television history and culture. We’re proud to announce the publication of our winter issue, which is now available in its entirety at www.viewjournal.eu. This eight issue, on the use and re-use of moving image archives in various productions, was co-edited by Claude Mussou, head of InaTEQUE, and Mette Charis Buchman, senior manager of archive research at Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR).
